The groundbreaking ceremony of Fahi Dhiriulhun – Sinohydro Housing Project took place in Hulhumale’ phase 2 today.
The chief guest for this ceremony was Minister of Planning and Infrastructure Mr. Mohamed Aslam.
During this ceremony, the foundation bricks for the housing project were laid by Minister of Planning and Infrastructure Mr. Mohamed Aslam, Minister of Housing and Urban Development Ms. Aminath Athifa and Vice President of Sinohydro Global Construction Mr. Xiong Lixin.
In addition to the top management of Sinohydro Global Construction, key figures of Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation, Housing Development Corporation, Government officials and Parliament members attended this ceremony.
The 1,700 housing units will be provided at an affordable price and will be developed in eleven 15 and 16-storey towers. The towers will include 1,020 three-room apartments and 680 two-room apartments. The administration expects to complete the project launched at a cost of USD 133 million within 2 years.
Speaking at the ceremony Minister Aslam emphasized that the administration would deliver solutions to solve housing problems faced by the residents of Maldives. Furthermore, he noted that these 1,700 housing units will be spacious and very conducive for living.
